Highland Peaks

Hi from Di and Peter !

"We designed & built a place we'd love to stay in ourselves"

We are a widely travelled professional couple who enjoy people and sharing New Zealand hospitality.

We built Highland Peaks as a spacious,
yet intimate, small Lodge
providing the facilities &
friendly personal service
we treasure when we travel overseas.

Peter with a PhD in ecology is a former director of New Zealand's National Trust.  He is a research fellow at the Department of Botany, University of Otago.

"I love sharing my deep interest in New Zealand's natural heritage and conservation.  NZ has some of the world's most unusual ecology ..."

We both enjoy fine wine, music, friends and firelight...

... and that also includes those with four legs at Highland Peaks.

  Meet our Critters ...

Some of our sheep & lambs...

Braveheart

" ... our very favorite New Zealand Dog."
Dick & Mary Hahn, Colorado, USA

CJ (Cat Jasper)

Our friendly Newfoundland - Bud

(Note: our animals are kept out of
the guest suites)

When we travel ...

We like:
unstuffy, humorous hosts who treat their guests like friends
cherished gardens, good food, untouristy places, dirt roads,
the lived-in look, the unusual, the artistic, the eco-friendly
creative interior design, historic buildings, modern architecture
big baths, powerful showers, imaginative breakfasts
open fires, real coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice ...

We do NOT like:
conference centers, identikit bedrooms, chain hotels
hosts who disappear irretrievably after your arrival… or never leave you alone
swirly, frilly, lacy décors...
