Started in 1979 after the closure of the Otago Central Railway it provides passengers with a unique view of the the rugged and spectacular Taieri River Gorge and the scenery of Central Otago.

Or enjoy the coastline in the comfort of the Seasider.

 
     
 

Taieri River Gorge Railway

Construction of the railway began in June 1879, to assist the development of Central Otago.

Due to economic depression progress was sporadic, reaching the Ranfurly plains in 1898, Alexandra in 1906 and finally Cromwell in 1921.

The railway serviced the region until the 1980's when it ceased commercial operations.

north of Dunedin to Palmerston.
