New
Zealand's fourth largest city, the
"Edinburgh of the South" was
founded by Scottish immigrants in 1848.
Following
the discovery of gold in the 1860's the city
rapidly become the country's leading
commercial and industrial centre.
This
prosperous period resulted in the largest
concentration of Victorian and Edwardian
architecture in New Zealand and our first
University.
Dunedin
is now internationally famous for this and
its wildlife.
And also for having the world's steepest
street !
